Paris Hilton Urges Fans to Help Keep Her Out of Jail

Paris Hilton is calling on her fans to help her stay out of jail--by endorsing an online petition they can sign. Fans of Paris Hilton have begun an online petition asking California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to help the heiress to a get out of jail free card.

The petitioners have asked the Governor to step in and relieve the star of her 45-day jail term for violating her DUI probation twice, when she drove on a suspended license earlier this year.

’;This petition is to ask Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon Paris Hilton for her mistake,“; the petition author writes. ’;Please allow her to her return to her career and life. Everyone makes mistakes. She didn't hurt or kill anyone, and she has learned her lesson. She is sincere, apologetic, and full of regret for her actions as she explained tearfully to the Judge handling her case in court.“;

As for Schwarzenegger, his reps tell they have not even received the petition. The rep added it was ’;premature“; to engage in a discussion over the petition until Paris has ’;exhausted all of her legal remedies. "

’;Even then, Governor Schwarzenegger would only act in extraordinary cases,“; the rep said.

At press time, nearly 3,000 people had signed the petition though the names of the signees were not available.

On Friday afternoon, Hilton‘;s lawyers filed preliminary paperwork to appeal the judge‘;s sentence of 45 days in a Lynwood correctional center. The full appeal will be filed Friday.

In related Paris news, yesterday Hilton rehired her longtime publicist Elliot Mintz, who she blamed on the stand for her reasons behind driving on a suspended license.

He said he will be by the heiress‘; side through her court appeal and beyond.

’;When Paris Hilton took the stand and said that she did not know that she should not be driving she spoke the absolute truth,“; Mintz said.
